Are there any scopes that have a 3/4" tubes that are worthwhile buying for an old Cooey? I still have the original Sportview on my Cooey 600 from 1969 which is cool but I can't see anything through it! Thanks!

A Tasco 3x7x is better than a 4x scope. they are available from SIR mailorder part # 621546....Probably the best you can find for a rimfire that is not too costly. I was going to scope my 60 but I have too many Cooey 64s already with scopes.

Is the Tasco about the best 3/4" tube scope I'm gonna find? Also, I remember reading years ago about a side mount/rings (Weaver?) that allowed mounting a 1" tube scope w/o drilling. If that's correct, does anyone have an item # I could look for? Thanks!

Without drilling? Hmmm, I can't say that I've heard of that.

If your Cooey came without the 3/8th's dovetail on top of the receiver, then I think drilling is your only option.

I bought my 600 already drilled and tapped for what I was told is a Weaver #4 side mount. I still haven't bothered to scope it though, as the irons work perfectly for me and the mounts, rings, and scope combined would be worth as much as the rifle, if not more so.

You may want to check that its not a #2 side mount. Also note that there are short and long ring mounts for the top half of the mount. SIR carries them (along with magazines for the 64).

Cheers

60 and 600 are a #2 sidemount Part # 641202 and require 1" rings part# 640087. But the action needs to be drilled and tapped. I cannot see how a scope base can be attached without threaded holes for the screws. 4 holes should be already on the left side of the action. I saw once a long time ago, a base that fit the rear sight dovetail and protruded back like a scout mount, but they did not last as the dovetail was too shallow and the banging around the gun takes soon had the base loose. Most gunsmiths are about $20 - $30. a hole for drilling and taping.

Sorry guys; I worded that post poorly. The receiver doesn't have dovetails and it's already drilled. I just meant that I wanted a sidemount for 1" rings that I wouldn't have to drill new holes for. And now I have the part #'s for the correct parts. :) Thanks a lot!
