Hey Guys,

I bought an old Cooey 600 six months ago and refinished the stock. Today I went to Wholesale Sports and picked up a Simmons 3-9 power rimfire scope for $49.00. I got it sighted in at 80 yards and was able to shoot 1" groups with Federal Champion Value Pack 36 grain .22lr.

Would that be considered good accuracy for this setup or is the gun capable of better?

Thanks,
Quaxile

I'd say thats quite decent for that ammunition at that range. Cooeys are very accurate, try taking it to 100 with different ammo brands and try to get it under an inch! That seup should be capable.

Thanks for the reply. I really like that old cooey. She is fun to shoot and is quiet enough that it doesnt seem like a big production everytime I take it out.

The reason I was shooting 80 yards is because that was my zero range for the MPBR that I had settled on of 3" vital. Does anyone else use this method for their .22s?

What he said! :)

IIRC, I once started a thread somewhere about what distance rimfires tend to be zeroed at.......now, where did I put that pesky thing? :D

I use a 3-12X turret style scope so I zero it for whatever range I'm shooting at. Sometimes that is < 20yds for grouse, and sometimes it is in excess of 300yd for plinking.
Cooeys rock!
