cooey 64 bolt lube

what is the best lube to use on a Cooey 64 bolt? my buddy doesn't think gun oil is good on the bolt for this rifle, says it gums up the action.

Your buddy is onto something.

Most people find that the old 64's work best when run dry.
It's a little weird, but it seems to work fine, just watch for rust.

I hated my 64 for a few years, and it was an 'ol timer that clued me in. Run it dry! I've owned it over 25 years now, and it runs like a top when dry. Every once in a while I'll try a different lube, hate myself for it when it starts jamming, then run it dry for a few more years.

I have owned a few different gems (the big 3 Cooey, Lakefield, and Savages), and all were the same in this regard

I have a 64b and a 10/22, both run dry and work well.

Graphite is an abrasive at high speeds so I would not use it in a action.

I use a product called "Super Lube". It is a synthetic dry film lubricant. It leaves no sticky film and prevents rust. I've been using it on my Cooey 64 for many years with good success.
