Not sure if exactly gunsmithing, but I have gotten my hands on Savage 64 and a Cooey 64 stock. Savage is with synthetic stock with synthetic trigger guard and no separate magazine plate. I would like to swap the stocks as I like wood stock better than the synthetic one. Now since the savage doesn't have removable trigger guard and magazine plate, I need to come up with a solution for those so I can make my Savage-Cooey plan to work. Since I have tools and some skill, and have hard time finding these parts for sale anywhere that would ship to me. I figured I could maybe make the two parts myself. Now here's my question, can I simply shape the parts from steel or aluminum and put the rifle together or is there some critical things I need to take into account?
