Try Savage dealers. I believe based on Wiki that this model is still being made in the Lakefield, Ontario plant, and sold under the Savage name. Savage now owns the Lakefield plant.

Very common problem - likely a design or manufacturing flaw. Note the amount of force required to snap the extractor over the rim of the case. I've decided to relieve the lip of the extractor slightly to benefit the operating life of my sons rifle.

I bought two from a cgn member.

Just for kicks does anyone recall the price from wgp?
I found one source online in French for $24.99 a piece. Seems quite expensive to me for what it is. However I paid more but I hope it's worth it. I like these old cooeys

Just wondering if you can provide some more details. My daughters rifle is fairly new and if there is anything I can do to prevent a failure, I'd love to give it a go.

Newer rifles have a different extractor. The older cooeys have a flat spring that is bent several ways and held in place by a screw. That screw is proving to be difficult to remove.
