Hi

I need a new stock screw for my old Cooey 64B.
Numrich doesn't have one.
Any idea what kind of screw I could use to replace it?

The image below shows a rifle similar to it and the screw missing is part 21, it screws on part 77.

Thanks

I can't remember the Winchester model number but it is a place to start.

I also remember the 64B being copied by another company, again drawing a blank. (Savage or Lakefield)

I'd take part 77 into Canadian Tire or Home Depot and go find their oddity cabinets.
You should find something that will work there.
CT's auto section use to have those stackable bins with different nuts/bolts/screws with
an assortment of head configurations.
Maybe a local gun shop might have an oddity screw box?

Send a pm to gunrunner100 and see if he can pull one out the black hat.

Two places I can think of should have something you could put together to work (like say a knurled nut an a stock threaded shaft ---- just a suggestion)

www.boltandnutsupply.com and/or

www.boltsplus.ca

Alternatively, you could check in EE under rimfire parts ----- there's a lot of model 64 exchanging hands; surely someone out there has a wrecker...

The Cooey 64B was made for Cooey Canada by Winchester. The schematic shown is misleading. Parts #21 are NOT identical! The front bolt is 1/4 x 28 metal screw and threads into the barrel locking lug. (unscrew THIS screw and barrel/action comes off the stock). The aft screw (closest to trigger guard) is a common wood screw that screws into the wood portion of the stock and only serves to hold the rear portion of the magazine plate in place. If the rear screw is missing - its an easy replacement by a similar sized wood screw (common like dirt). If its the fore screw (screwing into the barrel lug) a common 1/4 x28 (fine thread version of the standard 1/4 x20) should be readily available at a bolt supply shop or even CT. If things are REALLY desperate - I have blank screws and dies that could "manufacture" one but check on your local retailers first ...

As I said the schematics I attached is similar, not exact.
Thanks for the information, I'll try to find another screw with the info you guys gave me.
Also there is a CGNer helping me with it, he might have a few spare parts. Hopefully he has a match.
