Just looking for some info on this rifle. Are they any good? Can someone post a pic? I read somewhere that after Winchester bought out Cooey ,some model 70's were assembled in Canada and called the 710 ,is this the same rifle?

Mine's in .243. It's accurate enough for deer, but isn't a tack driver. Even after putting on a Model 70 stock(the original stock was plain birch), glass bedding and doing a trigger job(same adjustable trigger the 70 has). I have killed a fair number of ground hogs with it though.
"...assembled in Canada..." Nope. The 710 is a Model 70 assembled in Canada. The Cooey 71 is slightly different. Mostly just having the recoil lug a wee bit aft of where it is on a 70.

I had a .308 it shot 1-2 inch groups. Not a bad rifle for the $$$ I just didn't like the feel of it.

Receiver is cylindrical, recoil lug is sandwiched between the barrel and receiver, like a 700. Magazine box is welded to the receiver, as is the trigger mechanism housing. Bolt is a simplified M70 style without a bolt sleeve lock or guide lug. Sliding thumb safety, trigger mechanism functions the same way as a M70. The rifles, while M70 based, were designed for low cost production.

I have one in 225 win. It didn't shoot worth a darn then I got the barrel shortened and re-crowned and placed a ram-line synthetic stock on it. Had the gun re-blued, bolt re-jewelled, rings lapped. It will shoot 1-1.5" groups but it's nothing spectacular. I do have a major feeding problem with it. I have to be really careful when chambering rounds because they have a tendency to get jammed and often I have dented the brass. Plus the last shell in the box magazine always always pops out and the shell is then loose in the port. Pain in the neck. Makes follow up shots very challenging. But I did shoot a coyote with it at 327 yds this winter.
