I just bought a Cooey 710 30-06 last night, and now I need some details about them.:) The little info I have found so far isthat it's a Model 70 clone with a sliding safety, instead of the swinging safety. It's a push feed and a little beat up, but the bore is good, and the price was right.:D

Its M70 based, uses a tubular receiver & separate recoil lug. Mag box is welded in place. Basically a M70 extensively redesigned for economy production. Apart from perhaps the bolt body, nothing is going to interchange with a M70 of the same period of mfr. These were made after Winchester bought out Cooey. Basically a no frills, perfectly serviceable rifle.

tiriaq is right, it is also the second series. The original was the Model 71introduced in 1966 and became the 710 in 1968 and was discontinued in 1972.
All models were chambered for the 225, 243, 270, 308 Winchester and the
30-06 Gov't. There was also a version made for CIL, a Model 71 chambered for the 270 WIN. I have a 225 and it is a great working gun. I also believe that Winchester marketed it as the 670 for a couple years before the std. model 70 action was used as the 670.
If anyone out there could confirm that, I would appreciate it.
I hope this helps.
