Hey guys, I own a Cooey 84 in .410 with a full-choke barrel that never gets used. Was considering selling it, so had a poke around the EE. A couple of WTB posts, one listed for $400, on in 12ga. for $150 that nobody has touched...?

I'm not sure I've ever posted a "what's the value" thread here on CGN, but if any of you know and are feeling charitable, please feel free to comment or PM me. Promise I'll only ask the question once. :)

I see them for $80 at local shops all the time. So by the time you add the sales tax ect, $100-$150 here in the EE isn't bad.

You'd be nuts to pay more than that for one unless there was something really special about it.

Well the .410 usually brings a bit of a premium over the larger gauges, depending on condition of course. The higher the original condition, the more the value. Believe it or not, a fellow had a couple of model 84 410's on Alberta Outdoorsmen a few months ago. One was listed at $200.00 and one at $250.00. They both sold within 2 days. Don't know if he got his asking price but they sold quickly so I would think he did. But I don't know who would pay $400.00 for one. I have a very nice model 84 in 28 gauge that didn't cost near that much. Hmmmmm!!

There tends to be a bit more interest in 84's, as compared to 840's, and .410's are of more interest. BUT...if it was Grampa's old gun, then it become uber rare and worth at least twice as much.:p

The Cooey 12s are great duck guns. Mine shouldered easily and the sight picture was consistently true.

On a well used 84 or 840, make sure that the ejector's activating pins (or is it the recess in the breech block?) are not rounded or worn out.
If they are, the hulls will not eject well if at all.

A good welder may be able to build these up again.
