Hi all. I have an old cooey , 840 , 12 gauge that needs a little TLC.
The hammer spring is very weak. It's way to easy to #### , and the hammer doesn't hit near hard enough to dent a primer.
Should I buy just the spring for it ? , or the whole assembly consisting of the spring , plunger , and plunger bushing?
I understand the old assembly can be driven out sideways easy enough , but getting the new one seated in there , under spring tension can be quite challenging. Are there special tools needed? Needle nose pliers gonna do it?
Anybody have a drawer full of these parts ? lol
It's not a bad old gun . The wood has been redone on it already. The bore is bright + shiny. Just needs a more powerful hammer blow to make it shooter again.
