Cooey 840 ejector problems

I recently noticed that the ejector pin is starting to wear down the side of my receiver because (at least I think) the pin is slightly too short; so it's riding up the side instead of staying below the lip. (I hope that makes sense)

I think the pin is slightly too short because it has slowly bent over time due to normal use. Actually, I've noticed that every 840 that I've looked at has a bent ejector pin. Maybe this is normal?

Anyway, being the fiddling bubba that I am, I drive out the pin and somehow in the process lose it. This isn't a HUGE deal as I simply put it back together without the bottom part (don't know it's official name) and I now have an extractor instead of an ejector.

This is fine for now... but I do want to eventually have an ejector again. So, two questions:

1) where can I find a replacement pin?

2) how can I prevent the wearing down problem?

Try a bunch of drill bits until you find one that fits the hole. Then either measure it or drill a hole in a small piece of metal and go down to any machine shop or welding shop or even the metal rack at Canadian Tire or Home Depot to see if you can find some thing the right size. Another possibility is bicycle spokes , especially mountain bike spokes you only need 1 spoke. Or use a cut off piece of the drill bit( it may be too brittle, and you may have to cut it with a Dremel cutoff wheel) but it might work. Good luck.

Its just a pin. Find something that is a drive fit. You can use an electric drill and a file or emery to polish down the diameter. Cut to length, and install.

You could also try Western Gun Parts. I can't say I have had a lot of luck with them, but Cooey of all shapes and sizes were dismantled during the early registration days and the parts are plentiful at the right place. Ellwood Epps, a sponsor on this site, it another place that I know to have a lot of Cooey parts.
