Cooey 840 extractor

I picked up a 12g cooey 840 a while back and took it out to shoot yesterday only to find an issue. The extractor had broken which I didn't think was a big deal however I can't seem to #### the hammer back with the barrel closed. I feel silly because honestly I can't figure it out. If I take the barrel off completely it cocks and releases the hammer no problem but if I put the barrel back on and closer up the hammer won't ####. Is the extractor really part of that mechanism? I haven't taken it any further apart yet and I'm planning to at somepoint but just wanted to ask.

Is the barrel original to the receiver?

It's probably a different barrel. You will need to modify the hammer or get a new one.

You may need to file the V notch on the barrel lug to allow the block (actuated by the top-snap) to engage further. This is what's blocking the hammer movement.
