I'm sooooo jealous! Cooey experts will soon follow along with some more info, but I think it was made in the 30's and is worth ~$150, maybe more if you started a bidding war. The Canuck is sought after by collectors, but most people don't care much about them. I'd give you $150 for it (wink wink, cough cough)

According to my book, Cooey firearms made in Canada 1919-1979 by John A. Belton... "Introduced in the Spring of 1923, the single shot Junior [...] lenght of barrel and action, 20½ inches, overall length 33 inches, weight 3 to 3½ lbs, oil finish stock, price $5.75. Production apparently ceased with the move to Cobourg in 1929 and there was no similar Ace model to replace it."
Your rifle is pictured in the same book, p 12-13 The flat bolt knob is also typical of early Cooey models.

Pretty sad, the lack of interest in this thing it seems. For such a rare piece i figured there would be a lot of ooglers drooling over this pic. It spurred me on to looking for an Ace, which i bought yesterday... should arrive early next week! Man i love utilitarian guns. They are so simple and work oh so well.

Yep, they are pretty neat little boys rifles and are now a piece of Canadian firearm history. I have a couple of them in my collection. Been thinking of getting rid of one to make room but haven't decided yet.

Beautiful little rifle, and in excellent condition considering its age and usage over the years! Enjoy! (But for heavens' sake, don't EVER let it become an orphan rifle that ends up being 'disposed of'!)
