TNA is currently selling new, unused Yugo SKS replacement barrels. One of these should be adaptable for one of these conversions. Could probably be done without use of a reamer. With a barrel stump bushing (like the Cooey Carcano) one of these could probably be installed on a Lee Enfield.

Looks like they are labelled as "Kodiak Defence" for some reason.
Not sure if it's fully chambered based on the listing.
I think that’s the idea… SKS bores aren’t .308 so you could rebarrel a .303 British with one. Need to find someone to willing to reinstall the irons as well as do the barrel/chamber.

These barrels have potential for use in a variety of rifles.
In addition to the SKS, and the Cooey-Carcano and Lee Enfield, one could probably be installed in a Savage 340. Turn the breech to fit the 340 receiver and barrel nut. Adapt the bolt face and extractor. I have a .225 bolt body - that might work as-is.
What other possibilities are there?

The Sportco/Omark 44 target actions with the original barrel could use this for the stub treatment, they need it in order to be rebarreled unless already fitted/improvised with a locking lug sleeve.

I was doing some math on this, those barrels are threaded for 25x1.5mm. Thats a .984” major diameter.

A carcano is 1.064x14, which when you subtract the rough thread depth is .971 minor diameter.

The only way I see to attach it is to bore out and thread the old barrel to a smaller diameter and cut the sks barrel to a smaller diameter. But that leaves me questions on the strength of the whole assembly.

Your supposition is EXACTLY what the Cooey-Carcanos are.
When Eaton's arranged for the Carcanos to be re-barrelled, the jobber cut off the original barrel to a ~2" stub, bored it out, then threaded it on the inside to, IIRC, 11/16" NF. The new barrels were threaded on the outside to match this & screwed in. A set screw was then installed to ensure the new barrel maintained proper headspace.

Interesting, 11/16-3/4 would likely be the ideal area between the receivers thread and the chamber with both sides having roughly the same wall thickness.

7.62x39 is .447” at max diameter. Subtract that from your receiver and you get .617”. Divide that by two and add the .447 and you end up at .755-.756” with a wall thickness of .154” between them both.

That would only be 1/32” a side for the threaded stub which isn’t thread. So going down to 11/16” would make sense as your doubling that solid portion. Fine thread to get the maximum strength possible out of the thread. If it was me I would also likely make it a whitworth thread as it is stronger than a standard 60 degree thread.

This might be a fun project to take on.

One of those Yugo barrels should be ideal for the C-C conversion. The chamber is reamed, so cartridge head projection is set. Turn and thread the shank to match the 6.5x54 barrel, screw the barrel in until the headspace is set.
The one I did for the thread here on CGN, I cut the threads to be a firm fit in the bushing; didn't need the set screw to keep the barrel from turning.

If I could find the guy/gunsmith from the other site selling x39 Carcanos, I'd look into procuring one for myself since I have plenty of x39 to shoot, but dont wanna submit to current market prices for an SKS. Would love to have a shorter barrel to spit x39 out of as well if that'd be possible
