Cooey Centerfire Rifles?

I own a 30 06 that I refurbished with a Boyds stock For a Winchester and a Winchester trigger guard from Western Gun parts, decent basic push feed rifle made in Canada.

The Cooey 71 and 710 rifles were actually made in a number of chamberings here in Canada.
Even the 225 Winchester was offered [a rather obscure chambering]

The action utilized a pushfeed bolt that was from the M70, but did not have the safety on it.
The safety was on the RHS of the receiver not unlike many commercial actions.

The receiver was round, like a 700 Remington, and the recoil lug was also like a 700, but thinner.
22" barrels were standard, but a carbine length was made in very small numbers [18½"]

I have owned several of these over the years, and found them to be decent offerings, although not fancy.

Regards, Eagleye.

My father has a Cooey 30-06, Model 71, fairly plain rifle, but shoots great and actually looks good for not having checkering. By luck it has very nice wood, a lot of figure in the grain.

Love my Cooey 30-06. It's a dressed-down version of the Winchester Model 70. The other chamber offerings that I know of are .270 and .243. I'll be looking for them this summer. BTW, mine has checkering, go figure. It's the same pressed checkering that is on my Lakefield 64...

That's a nice looking gun. I definitely need one. Lol

I just picked up a 308. The stock is not very desirable, but I found a guy that copies stocks and will be making me a nicer version in black walnut laminate.
