I'd like to have my win cooey 64 drilled and tapped for Weaver base to mount a reflex sight on it. I bought several conversion mounts from dove tail to Weaver and the only ones that work sit to high. Is it best to drill and tap or to file the reciever flat or try to round the underside of the bases?

Every body is an expert when it comes to Cooeys...

It is never better to file the action to fit a base... make the base fit the action.

The base I have came with a rounded relief already on the bottom to fit the top of the action.
