After reading TriggerHappyGal's thread "Cooey Sureshot Repeater - Upgraded". And seeing what a fantastic job she did...
Thought I'd picked up some checkering tools and give it a go.
The Hiawatha Repeater with a plain walnut stock was the start of my project.
Stripped off the old finish, put a few coats of BLO/Minwax Antique Oil Finish 50/50 on her.
While that was drying, I started to look over some older Cooey pics.
I found that some Cooey "Special" stocks had a fore-stock triangle (Repeater Special) and some had a diamond. (Eatonia Senior Special)
Didn't find any Hiawatha upgraded stock pics, so I went with a diamond.
Laid out the pistol grip pattern best I could. I wanted the left & right sides to join at the top. (Not the best choice for a beginner)
That was the hardest to figure out. In hindsight maybe should have went with a simpler pattern.
Got humbled pretty quick, made a couple big mistakes. Learned lots, need to order a couple of different cutters which will make things a lot easier.
All in all it turnout okay.
So here's my Hiawatha Special
