Hi folks..... I could use some info about a Cooey Model 75, (had it since new, don't ask when that was), the internal spring in the bolt getting too weak to fire a .22 round. Does this bolt disassemble? do I need another bolt? any other solutions??
Thanks
ronnie

Ronnie:
The bolt does disassemble, but it can be tricky. If you notice the round piece on the side of the bolt (which can be used for a safety if your rifle has a cutout for it in the receiver), you'll see that it is in fact a cross-pin (look very hard under good light and with a magnifier). This pin has to be drifted out gently. Once this is done, you will have to seperate the front and rear of the bolt, which can be trickier yet as the 2 parts have become very fond of each other over the years due to use and dried lube. Once that's done, you will have to make a tool to remove the striker nut in the forward part of the bolt. This tool is similar in appearance to a SMLE firing pin tool, but the dimensions are not the same. The spring is under this nut as well as the firing pin. Good luck,
Chris

... 'Bit of a long shot, but, have you tried flushing the bolt/fireing pin etc. with a solvent ? WD40 maybe ? .... David K.

I was going to say the same thing - sometimes a good soak in a bucket of solvent cures a lot of things!

re: Cooey Model 75 bolt

Hi All
thanks for the advice...... I checked the bolt for a cross pin, and found the outline of one opposite the large protruding pin, much smaller in dia. and on a lower axis than the center of the large pin. Easy stuff first, I tried supporting the bolt face down, propped open about 1/2", and loaded it with WD40, soaked it, and followed that with a few blasts of compressed air. Lots of gunk out the little hole at the firing pin. Looks like a long process, but non-invasive. Half a dozen more like that might just do it. The gun's well worth keeping, it's surprisingly accurate for an old blister.
Thanks again

I own 7 difrent modles including a pump action. I dont like it but I have seen the fireing pins filed. Between the two halvs of the you should see the sloted pice that holds the spring you should be able to dissasemble the bolt with the right tool. you might need to make the tool.
