My cooey model 82 trainer has a number with a letter prefix on the bottom of pistol grip, Just wondering in anyone can shed any light on purpose of the letter or maybe manufacture date. Number is: B6087

That is a Canadian military serial number. The model 82 was originally designed as a Canadian military trainer. There were also cvilian versions which lack the serial number. Yours should also have a broad arrow mark within an oval stamped into the breech or barrel ahead of the breech. I would assume the serial number was to keep track of where the gun went to and possibly who it was assigned to. I doubt you will find manufacture date even if you could even find a list of military serial numbers but you know it is from the early 40's.
