So I saw this color in the store and I thought it might be interesting. Let's hope so.... It's called Cherry Blossom. Sounded feminine, so I decided to make my Cooey " girly"
This is the before:

This is after sanding (it's too cold out to use the vile stripper and I have no shop) The pinky purple blob is the stain color:

This is after the first coat I was kind of hoping it would be a bit more vibrant....

So now I am going to apply my second coat. Wish me luck....

Ok, coat two is done:

Ok, I think this is coat number 6. This is getting fun. I can't wait to put the tru oil over it so it gets shiny!!

I have done about 10 coats now so I think this is all I'm going to get. I was kind of hoping for it to be a bit more girly but I still like it. I am going to oil it soon.

Ok, two coats of Tru Oil, Now I just want to re-blue the barrel and it will be all pretty! I'm pretty happy with the color!

I use my mind to shoot it. It's a one of a kind ESP Cooey. lol.I actually had it out of the stock and then thought I would get a before pic before I started. I did the barrel before with some cold bluing stuff I got at the gun store. It turned out ok, I heated it up with boiling water then dried it quickly and rubbed the bluing stuff in. And rubbed and rubbed and rubbed. It looks ok, but I want to do it again. My friend said he is setting up his dipping tanks so that will be cool to learn!

Just a note, if you want a quick 'stripper' (besides me, of course), try Circa with one of those green abrasive pads from Crappy Tire. It works wonders and doesn't take nearly as much off as sanding does :)

I have some stuff in the garage but it's snowed closed. I kinda wish I would have dug it out. And it was too cold to stand outside and strip....the stock. lol

Wow, that stuff is evil. I used it outside last time and made sure I disposed of all the rags away from my house. I was a bit paranoid. Now that I think about it, it ate one my rubber gloves up a bunch. Vile stuff.

That looks good, I'd do mine green to coordinate with my hair :). We sanded my ruger when we gave it a pistol grip and I haven't decided which way I want to seal the wood again.

Many don't believe me, but if they seen my cooey, they'd see the job I did with Outers Gun Blue. It looks professional! Very dark bluing. It's VERY simple and I got it right on the very first try. (Tips from a friend, of course)

Basically, you need nitrile gloves, crud cutter/brake cleaner, steel wool, a sink, hot water and the blue.

Make sure you strip the metal surface entirely. An easy way to do this is with a super fine sandpaper like 320. You could use steel wool but that'll take longer.

When the metal surface is super bare, make sure you remove all traces of grease with the brake cleaner or crud cutter, then rinse and dry. Then, with a sponge, soak in some blue and start rubbing. Once the desired area is dark, let dry. It'll look all crusty and gross. Then, rinse this under hot running water, then get super fine steel wool and lightly buff. Do this 2-3 times with outers and I guarentee you, your barrel will look fantastic. I fooled a few people already with my Cooey model 60!

Minwax. They have to tint it at the store. I got it at crappy tire for $14.99. Crappy thing is that it only came in the quart size so I have ALOT left. I'm looking for more things to stain.
I have used the casey birchwood (I think) and it was ok, is the outter's better. Maybe I will get some to try tonight! I really need a life.
