Ok,

I have a Cooey Model 75 single shot .22LR bolt-action rifle. It shoots very true. I would like to improve on that even more. Maybe even get some half decent shots out to 100m with ironsights.

I was thinking of bedding the stock perhaps? It only has one screw and I find at times the action can 'slop' around in the stock.

Has anyone done any work on these rifles?

I have one, absolutely love it. I have not done any improvements to it, was thinking of scoping it but I felt that maybe a peep sight would be more appropriate.

I don't want to scope it because I can't enter it in a local annual competition. I was thinking possibly a peep sight too... but I'm not sure that I want to drill and tap it. I only paid 50 bucks for it , but it looks like it just came off the shelf, and I hate butchering firearms.

I do hate the single screw bit though. I don't think it's enough to allow the action to stay firm and let me float the barrel.

She loves CCI Stingers the best, but I"m not sure that this is a wise bullet for 100m or if I should go with a little slower/heavier.

I have the little brother to the model 75, it's a 39.
What I did to improve it's accuracy is

Polished the trigger sear and bolt reccess.

Installed a redfield 70 front globe sight.

Drilled and tapped the receiver to fit a Lyman 55 peep sight ( small 4-40 screws)

Polished the bore using a tight patch on a cleaning rod coated with JB bore bright.

Turned a so so rifle into a nice little shooter, groups under .75 inch at 50 yards now.
