Hi,

Was the cooey model 75 ever used as a trainer but in an 82 stock? There is one on the EE (a 75 in what looks like an 82 stock) and unfortunately I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to trainers.

I thought the m82 was just a 78 target with a full stock?? I have a m82 with the peep (the peep is often missing) and I cant get over how accurate it is. I bought a Mossberg 151mb for the wife so she would quit hogging MY cooey 82.

I really don't know much about it but I have seen both model 75 and model 82 in the full wood stock and sold as trainers. I thought just the m82 was a trainer.

Is that the one where it says model 75 FS? Don't know if he means full stock or for sale. Anyhow, if it is a full stock it is not in the original stock and the 75 was not a trainer. The model 82 was the only mass produced Cooey full stock trainer. There were also civilian versions as well as 82's without a full stock.

Yeah I got a 78 Target. I was surprised it came with both apertures.

It's back up for sale as someone didn't know what a Cooey Model 82 was and thought it was a Long Branch C#7 or something stupid. And it is a real Military Model 82. I also am selling a 75 which is also in the picture as I was too lazy to go through the pain in the ass of loading 4 pictures instead of 2.

Does your 78 have the hooded front target sight?
Speaking of both apertures, I have a model 62 target rifle with both factory apertures.

Yeah got some hooded sight with inserts that held in by a clip. I only have one insert. But I got the large and small rear peep disk.

All the Cooey Models 75 , 78 , & 82 have the same barrel length . From muzzle to front of receiver is 26" .
Models 78 & 82 have a flat milled @ the rear of the receiver for the same peep sight.
All models 75 , 78 & 82 have their model # stamped on the receiver .
Models 75 & 78 with full wood are not trainers like the 82 was. I believe people added the 82 wood to 75 & 78
to increase their value . 82 wood has been available over the years.

Yes, I have the 75 and 78 with 26" barrels. However, I have an Eaton's Ranger model ,which is the same as the 75, and it has a 24" barrel.

I have a 75 that was also residing in an 82 buttstock. But from what I have read in the book wriiten about the Cooey's is that some 82's were also sold to the civilian market, and are thus unstamped. That is what I believe the stock on mine is from. It is the 82 butt stock, but has no serial number, Broad C Arrow mark or other Regimental marking. So I refinished it. It turned out beautiful.
