Cooey model 82 bolt disassembly

The front wood on these are separate.

I haven't had it apart, but there's supposed to be a joint under the middle band. They were sometimes sporterized by removing the bands and tossing the front wood, the main stock looks like the stock of a Cooey 75 but I don't know if it's the same. Supposedly, according to one article I read, there was the option to add steel weights internally to make it heavier like a No 4 Mk 1 Lee Enfield.

The model 82 was based off of the model 75 and 78 which was only around for a few years. You could also get a model 82 from factory that didn't have the forend wood. The wood does join under the band. When you remove the band, you will see that the front of the main stock is a bit different on full wood models.

no its a military trainer one, and from what ive gleamed over the years those where all full wood.

Yes, most likely it was full wood. Although I do have a non full wood model 82 (model 78 style) and the collector I got it from some years back said it had been used in competition shoots amongst the military. I don't have concrete proof of this but it does have the broad arrow stamp on the breech. Instead of a serial number on the pisol grip this one was stamped into the side of the breech. It also had a different peep sight installed, I assume a much better taget sight of some sort as well as a front target sight.

i know mine came from my grandfather and he got it from the military when he was back from WWII and he said it never had full wood.
so i assume for whatever reason in Calgary back in the 40's they took the front wood off their guns for whatever reason.
