What are the differences between a Cooey Ranger single shot and a Cooey 39? My google foo is failing me and all the pics that pop up on google show different images. Anyone have any photos showing the different models of Cooey's?

Cheers

I think they are pretty much the same 26 3/4" barrel. Different stock, but interchangeable. I remember they advertised the Senior and Junior model years ago when I was lusting after my first "Real Gun" ? The "Senior" was the Model 75 or as some call it the "Whale Tail" I never could figure who came up with that one. the other I forget what they called that, other than the " Junior" Cooey

The Ranger was made for Eatons. Before it was called the Ranger, it was the Eatonia. It was the model 75 that had the "whale belly" type stock which could be had in either the Cooey branded gun or any of the trade store branded guns. The model 39 type gun was the regular stock. I don't have a Ranger branded model 39 but I do have a Ranger branded model 75. The barrel on it is 24". On my regular model 75 , it is 27". So in this case a shorter barrel was produced. The Cooey model 39 barrel should be 22" but I don't know if a shorter version could be had in the ranger version. Would need someone who has one to measure it.

As far as photos showing the various Cooeys, you need to get John Belton's Cooey Book. There were a lot of different models over the years.

Thanks all,

Gunsaholic, that book is hard to come by. The closest I've come to finding it is requesting photos or photocopies from the national archives. I'm not sure if its a model 39 ranger I was only wondering the difference between the models was. The one I'm looking at could very well be the 75 ranger.

Cheers,
