hello, i picked up a camo ranger 22 from a gun show in bracebridge today, i talked him down to 30 dollars, becuase the extractor was broken , i phoned epps before i bought it and they had them for bucks so i picked up two, i guess they were model 75 extractors i believe, anyways i wast to put a cheap scope mount on it , on that does not need to be drilled but if it does i want it to be see thru so i can still use the original sights, please give me some adviceon what brands or makes are compatable with this gun, aside from drilling weaver rings right on it becuase epps said it would be about 100 bucks but i will check in with wise choice gun smithing tommorow, thanks

To the best of my recollection the ranger is a sinlge shot 22 made by Cooey. Similar to the model 39, 75, 82, etc. All basically the same rifle, just different stock configurations and barrel lengths.

As for a scope, none of the single shot's were originally drilled for scopes. (At least as far as I have seen or heard of). Actually nothing really until the model 600, which was marketed by Winchester/Cooey after 1965-ish. Even the model 35 (single shot) I have that was made by Win/Cooey was straight irons. Now I like them that way with straight irons. No need for a scope in my opinion. I have my scoped 22's for benchrest, etc. I would think if you really wanted to mount a scope on the Ranger, drill out on the top and mount whatever kind you want....For general purpose shooting I have a cheap 35mm tasco and like it, as well a bushnell 22 3-9 pwr. If you want larger objective or greater magnification, try out the tasco varmint scopes, they are pretty cheaply priced and will work just fine for the occassional shooting/gopher blasting....... :)

Good luck with the rifle and post some pics so we can see....Matt
