I've just installed a new shell extractor in my model 75 Cooey because the original one broke. It's identical to the old one but doesn't even come close to pulling the shell out. Is this perhaps a head space issue? I have a model 78 with the same problem, and no, I didn't get the bolts mixed up.

~ Clean the bolt face.
~ Clean the grooves in the barrel that the extractor protrudes into.
~ Check that the extractor pivots freely.
~ Inspect the breech face, look for metal that has been peened into the chamber by the firing pin.
~ Check that the extractor pivots far enough to actually grasp the case.
