Cooey vs winchester specs

The M70 receiver is a machined forging, with a flat bottom and integral recoil lug. The Cooey 71 receiver is a tube, and has a clamped stamped recoil lug. The trigger housing and magazine box are tack welded in place.
I do not know if the hole spacing is the same.
I assume you are wondering about installing a Cooey barrelled action in a M70 stock. Might be possible, and epoxy bedding will compensate for major differences. Isn't going to be a drop in.

I think barrel shank dimensions are very similar. The Cooey is an economy rifle, but there is no reason one would not be a good shooter, and would not benefit from an upgraded barrel. I do not know if you would ever recover the cost of rebarrelling, though.

I have a 710 with a Galliard barrel in 225 win 27"and 3/4"dia at the muzzel. The screw hole distance is completely different. The effort required to make a model 70 fit wouldn't be worth it IMHO.I am just going to inlet an A5 style stock for it in laminate with bench rest hardware just for something different.

Did Ted rebarrel the rifle for you?

You mean to say some of you CGnutz actually come out ahead. I have been shooting for nearly 60 years and haven't added to the pocket book any extra yet. Mayhaps if I last long enough it will work out.:D

.
Was the Cooey 71 not marked for a time by Winchester as the Model 670?
.

The Winchester 670 was a bargain priced Model 70 push feed, I had a couple over the years. I've heard of Winchester 670's and 770's with a two position side safety but I've never seen one. Both of mine had the three position safety on the bolt, ala Model 70.

What is the distance between the front and rear action screws on a post 64 M70 (push feed) ?
The 710 measures 7 5/8" or so .The pre 64 is about 1/8" less. The 710 action looks more like a rem 700 than a model 70.The only thing it seems to have in common is the winchester trigger.
