I recently purchased a Winchester/ Cooey Model 600, it has a grooved receiver for a scope, it has no serial number, i am curious about the production date, would this be a late 1960's production, or early 1970's, thanks for all your replies
The model 600 came out in 1967 and the early ones were not grooved on the receiver. Some had side mount holes from the factory for a weaver side mount. I don't know for sure what year the grooved receiver came out but I would guess early to mid 70's.
LOTS of gunsmiths with mills added scope grooves to cooeys of all vintages. I've done some myself. It's a much better system than the factory side mount.
