Cooey / Winchester 84/840 return spring

Can’t seem to find one in any of the parts diagrams, but when I look down into the receiver it looks like there might be a ridge for one to sit on. Can anyone with experience with these confirm whether or not there should be a return spring on the firing pin on these shotguns?

I'm not aware of one. The ridge is probably a leftover from machining.

Yep. Thanks. I was able to find out that this model doesn't have a return spring. Thanks again.

The Model 840 shares numerous parts with both the Model 37A and Model 370, all three models are Winchester brand.
