Found this pretty cool looking SKS on the Firearms Canada.com website. Guy was asking far too much money in my humble opinion (i could just be cheap...highly likely :) ), but i like the gun and the style...can someone identify the part's he's added on to it and if possible, where to buy said components?

cheers

I see an ATI folder, which is not that great, folds yes, but is wobbly when open. There is a rubber buttpad on the folder most likely to extend length. The reciever mount scope rails are garbage. Also has an aftermarket gas piston cover. Most likely it is a non-D model due to the bayonet being on there, that makes it use a duckbill aftermarket, total garbage. Unless its the D model i sold a while back where i filed on a slot for the bayo to be attatched.

Looks cool, but really doesnt add to the functionality of an SKS. I used to have one with all these gizmos too. Eventually sold it for a nice standard m59....then i got the 858 in the end, which has all this funky looking stuff seen in this pic in a package that actually works well together.

Yeah, pretty much a simple plain $160 SKS(not a D with removable mag, note the metal thing at an angle in front of the mag...one of those adaptors to allow the use of 30rnd clips in the regular SKS) with a $90 ATI stock, a crappy mount and a scope(can't tell type).

Aaa, you beat me to it.:p

Just out of curiosity...how much was the guy asking for this rifle? Because I did browse that website myself for a few minutes, only to realize that much of the stuff being sold is overpriced.

Mosin - Nagant 1944 Carbine 7.62x54R, bolt action, 5 shot, 517mm bbl, original sling, bayonet, very good condition, used, $399.50 + tax, Hunter's Sporting Goods (604)###-###X ###X@firearms.ca

400 bucks, plus shippping and tax for a M-44 carbine? Is there something I do not understand about Mosin Nagant prices?

The inside rail on the one I have is twice as thick as the one on the original cover...so when the bolt flys back, it jams open. Also when you pull the bolt back the right side rail cheese grates your hand.

About the only thing I would buy on the one in your picture is the vented handguard, the light with the pressure switch, and the ATI folding stock with the butt pad, as they are not to expensive. SKSman.com has those two things.

And the stock can be painted with Krylon paint.

Cz52 where did you get a link to Hunters website? I had no idea they even had one, and firearms.ca doesnt link anything, nor does a google search?

on yahoo.ca ...type in search section ....... firearmscanada.com .

not a well plan site.

^ probably for show mostly

CZ52...as i recall, the guy wanted like 800-1000 bucks or somehting :|...the add was pretty poorly written over all.

667: yeah i know the SKS is basically a good plinking gun. it will be plenty of firearm for a noob such as myself..till i can make a CZ858/ak47 lookalike or afford a USP....right now cars are eating out huge chunks of budget :(

What's the point of a flashlight on a rifle like that? It's almost like putting a flashlight on a Remington 700.

Close quarter stuff, bear defence around the camp...use your imagination.
Can you give a good reason why one should not put a flashlight on an SKS? :D

Another attempt to polish a turd...:p

If you don't like the SKS, then go find some donuts, and stay out of the forum.

$800-$1000 for THAT SKS!!!!!! What an idiot for trying to rip someone off like that!!!! There isnt an SKS worth that much money no matter what you do to it!!!.....PS... I'm not SKS bashing here....I have an SKS-D and I love it...but that price is ridiculous!!!!

Everything you DO NOT want to do to an SKS. Keep it stock, if you like the evil "banana-clip" mag get a CZ/VZ or go back to CS 1.6.
