I don't agree. As much as I loved shooting the texas star, I think that the higer-ups got it right. If contraptions like this are allowed, we might as well have circus music playing in the background at every match.

Contraptions?....wow. Apparently someone making a plate rack more challenging equates to some circus contraption now.

There are many alternative action shooting / competition shooting organizations etc to choose from if IPSC is too restrictive

They are typically more difficult then EESAs. Unfortunately, ours was over-greased and it slows down the rotation

Thats why I got out of it. It just stopped being fun. Whats the point if its not fun? That target would be fun!

It may be illegal for IPSC, but USPSA still considers it a fun addition to a match. I'm in the airport waiting for my flight to Vegas. I'll be shooting this contraption either tomorrow or Saturday. At the moment: I'm really looking forward to having fun with it.

Hopefully I'll still thinks it's fun after I unload and show clear.

Probably the same way the plates are secured to their "Whirlygig" or Texas Star.
Keyhole with springs to hold them...

As for the circus, I say... "bring on the clowns!"

It's a target... It needs to be shot... It doesn't care if an ipsc guy , an IMG guy or a bullseye shooter takes aim

Can someone expand on why it wouldn't be allowed? I've seen vids with other moving targets, why not this one? Newbie question.
