How common is this? Its Winchester 9mm. I even noticed not all of the markings on the rounds are the same.

There are quite a few rounds that are longer, they wont fit in a mag so I'm going to assume they aren't safe to fire too.

It is cheap ammo but come on, really? Made in America and the cheaper Russian stuff I get has been far better in quality.

Someone please tell me I'm just an inexperienced noob and this is normal.

UPDATE: I went back to the store as it was on the way to where I was going, they said it was the first time they've seen that and replaced the box for me.

Contact Winchester or can I take it back to the store? I may try the store first see what they say. Contacting Winchester seems like a longer process.

Also yeah the bullets too long I can put the round in but I cant put another one as the one that's in is too long and wont go down further.

Reload your own ammo.

I'm sorry what's the risk here? If it chambers it shouldn't be an issue, provided the charge is the same as the other rounds. Short of a double charge an under seated projectile is a non issue. Over seated(set back) projectiles are definitely bad news.

As for what to do. Pull them, shoot them, or toss them. Why waste your time returning them. The major ammo manufacturers pump out a metric sh*t ton of ammo daily, they aren't all going to be perfect.

ETA: What magazine/pistol won't load these and what are their overall lengths?

Rounds could be double loaded?

If you chamber it and unload "the bullet may pull out of the case and stay in the bore. when you reload later and fire..... Kaboom"

Why risk damaging a pricey pistol over a 20cent round

Call Winchester and see what they have to say. The store you bought them at won't usually do much, but the Parent Company will usually throw in some freebie's and whatnot to keep their customer happy.

What bullet weight are they supposed to be? If its 147g they are not far off but still look long. If 115 or 124 then yes, way over length.

Remington that i used to buy white/green box was as horrible as this. But i guess they were seated shorter, not longer. There was a thread in reloading somewhere. 250 Mega packs seemed to be of better quality. Now i just roll my own :) See if the long ones chamber properly and if they do they might be safe to shoot.
