I saw this a while back in an issue of SWAT Magazine and though it was pretty cool, but never thought it would come to anything, this is one I found for sale is Texas and I really like it, I think it is very cool. It is built by Arms Tech of Pheonix, Arizona. It is .308 built on a 700 action, with removalble barrel for complete takedown.

Nice execution but I don't much like the rings and bases used. I think if you are going to have the scope removable I would prefer some type of weaver or picatinny rail system as opposed to a Leupy QR style system - how long is the barrel? It seems incredibly short (16"-14" or even less?) - I think there is too much optics for the type of shooting that rifle will see <200m (don't even need adjustable knobs really). I would probably throw a nice compact scope on it with a nice TMR/Mildot reticle and not bother with adjustable knobs... just my 2 cents

That is a Choate folding stock. Apart from the detachable barrel system, everything there is off the shelf - if you wanted something like this, it could be duplicated. Any idea how the barrel detaches? Will it hold reasonable zero? As far as I know the Leupold mount set holds zero pretty well. But with a detachable barrel and scope, the opportunity for the first shot to go astray is always there.

Barrel is 17" the scope is a 3-9X40 Vari-X II. I agree on what everyone has said, but I think the concept is very cool. Arms Tech has comlpletely rebuilt the 700 action so it is fully tuned, no sure about the make of the barrel but it is match grade. Now, here is the ringer, the asking price on this particular rifle is $5700.00 US, way to much money as far as I am concerned, I do not care about the "this is very hard to find" issue, but it is still a very neat concept. If it was $1500.00, I would buy it, but not the even close to what they are asking.

I don't know Steve, I think you had it right with mine. ;)

Is there any truth to the theory that a shorter barrel is louder than a longer one, with all things being equal?

From the photo: Seems the bipod and the "hand rest with the sling swivel" or whatever it's called, might be more logically arranged if they were reversed, and the hand rest positioned (turned around) so that that it might present a more comfortable resting position for the shooter??? If it came in pieces, that would be my first trial positioning.....but I really know nothing about this kind of rifle. I recall Anschutz accessories where a similar forward hand rest was attached to the under rail years ago....comments?

Its probably set up that way to make the rig as compact as possible. The bipod would probably work better if it were reversed, as suggested. At any rate, if you want a similar rifle, get a LTR, Choate stock, Versa Pod or Harris bipod, and scope and mount of your choice. The QD barrel would be the biggest job. Would cost a LOT less than US$5700, even if the action were blueprinted, and a custom barrel fitted. Or, you could just be on the lookout for a Grendel.

The bipod looks like a Monopod to me.

It would take about one minute to turn it around so the handstop were properly available.

It is probably positioned like that to fit the case. Typical situation where the photographer doesn't understand what he is photographing, and no one is looking over his shoulder.

Imagine them letting this on their website like this.

Does anyone know how much that could cost? Or if it can be done by most gunsmiths. Seems to me it must be hard to make a setup that keeps it's zero all the time, and robust enough for repeated use.

It depends on how the conversion is done. Are tools necessary to remove and replace the barrel? I can't tell looking at those photos. There are switch barrel benchrest rifles.
