My new Cooper Model 52 Excaliber with fluted bolt, and fluted 26" barrel in 25-06 Ackley Improved. I got this baby through Prophet River Firearms who went the extra mile to get me the rifle I wanted.

I will be putting a Warne Picatinny base, and 3-18 IOR scope on as soon as the base arrives. Brass used to form the 25-06AI will be Lapua 30-06, Powder will be Reloader 22 or IMR4350, and bullets will be Berger 115gr VLD, Nosler 115gr BT's, Hornady 117gr SST's, and Barnes 115gr TSX's. I should happen upon a good load using these components, and if the supplied target is any indication of what this rifle can do (1 hole 3 shoot group) then I will be very happy.

On to the Photos:

The stock is well made, feels great, and although I was unsure of the red coloring at first, it is actually very good looking in person. The red is more visible closer up, and seems to blend some what into the black further back. Very unique and I've found I like it.

Now for some pictures of the Cooper M52 you don't see every day. The stock has an aluminum bedding block, with glass bedding around the pillars, with the barrel being free floated for most it's length. You'll notice that the bedding material around the front pillar before the lug is clear, while every where else it is black.

Fluting on the bolt, and barrel, and the three round magazine. The magazine works flawless! Very nice design that feeds well, and fits the rifle perfect. The one thing I noticed was that the feed rails run pretty far down the length meaning you can't top up the magazine while it is in the rifle. Probably has to do with the single stack design as apposed to the staggered stack I am familiar with.

And the barreled action, lug.

And the trigger looks well made, and adjustable.

This rifle carries a lot lighter then I thought it would with the 26" barrel, although the big heavy IOR scope will change that. So far that's what I got, I'll have to update this thread when I get the mount, and scope on her.

I'll likely do a different thread when it come's time to do the load testing. All in all very happy with my purchase to date! If it shoots as good as I'm thinking it will I will have a new favorite rifle.

That is a really nice rifle !!......Please keep us posted regarding performance.
As a long-time user of the 25-06, I'm curious to know more about your loads and how they work for you.
I'm sure you'll have good luck with load development ..

Thanks Gentlemen,

416ON - Warne for a Picatinny base, although I have yet to have it in my hands.

ben hunchak - Coopers wood is very nice looking, but not for everyone. I wanted a functional rifle I could take into the bush A LOT and not cry when I got a scratch in it. I thought long and hard about it, and I'm a synthetic guy and went that route.

looch - The stock is made by Bell and Carlson with an aluminum bedding block. I would say this stock is as nice as my McMillan A2 in fit, feel and finish which surprised me a little.
