Is severe copper (jacket) fouling an issue with the DPMS (or other brand) .308 carbines?
I don't have a lot of information, but a friend who shot his for the first time told me that the barrel was in a terrible state after his range session. I have no info regarding the ammo he was using, but he's pretty knowledgable and wouldn't have used anything less than premium ammunition.
Any thoughts on this are most appreciated. :)

Breaking the barrel properly will reduce copper fouling...

My guess is he did not since you state it was "for the first time"

Stainless steel barrels typically require some efforts in that respect.

Thanks Kev...he mentioned that he Bore Scoped the barrel prior to shooting the carbine and that it looked like it left the factory with a bore like a "sewer pipe".
He's a very experienced competition shooter, but he has only recently 'switched' from an M1A to the "AR" and wondered if he was going to have a running battle with copper fouling.
He did say that proper breaking in should progressively reduce the copper fouling.
He also mentioned that he was very impressed with the carbine's accuracy..it took 3 shots to get onto "the bull" at 100 yards with iron sights, and he then broke 3 clays with 3 shots at 100 yards standing offhand. He was concerned that recoil might be an issue with the collapsible AR stock, but he said it was a pussycat.
This rifle is beginning to interest me. :D
