Trying to find suppliers of copper washed bullets for reloading. I can find hordes of jacketed (FMJ, CMJ, TMJ, JHP, etc...) and lots of plain old lead (WC, SWC, FP) from various manufacturers, but I was under the impression that a copper washed was a super thin electroplated copper coating (compared to say FMJ) over the lead core. Or am I just completely wrong about that?

You are not wrong about this.. But the wash is usually not consistent...
Although you may save money you probably won't get a good round... Go with a jacketed bullet... There was a thread recently about EXCEL which are a plated bullet that has lots of info... Look it up...

The only reason I asked about washed bullets is due to our indoor reange requirements that state "No Jacketed Ammunition". For outdoors I still have 1500 or so Wolf 180gr CMJ's for my .40, but I'm looking for indoor usage.bear.23 said:

Check to see if copper washed bullets are okay to use in your gun ( most guns can use lead bullets but some guns like Glock's aren't supposed to use lead bullets because of barrel/rifling design, I don't know if that applies to copper washed also) . Also check to see if your range officers will allow copper washed bullets , they may not think there is any difference to jacketed , they look the same ( we have all run into the uninformed range nazi's).
Everyone at our range (RO's and section heads included) states that copper washed is OK. So are West Coast CMJ considered to be "washed"? and not Jacketed? (I ask since I have 1500 of them I've be keeping for outdoor use.)BEARMAN said:
