COR®BON a no no in Canada?

i recently picked up a Glock 10mm and my dad has a S&W 460 and we together build a 460Rowland and we where looking to get some 'spicy' loads for our guns and we ordered up some Buffalo Bore stuff and i noticed some Corbon and when i went to order it the fella informed me that Corbon is not allowed to be exported from the states.

my dad did some searching and emailed me and said that its not approved to come into Canada as its strictly defense ammo.

just wondering if anyone can confirm this for me??

seems strange to me as we do have people who do carry guns for bear defense so its not like we couldn't legally use the ammo if it where available up here.

i was just surprised by this and wanted to get some confirmation, figured this would be the forum to check the waters in.

kinda disappointed that i cant get some 395gr S&W 460 whoppers!

Buffalo Bore was the same until recently.

Just has to get approval from NRCAN and its fine. Not sure what the process is, or if it is ridiculous.

I'd like some 460 too.

It's more likely that they don't have an export permit

i was talking with a company that exports ammo (and firearms) into Canada and they are bringing in some Buffalo Bore for me and i asked them about Corbon and they where the ones that told me that they where not allowed to import it, i asked if they meant export it and they said no, they were not allowed to import it?

meh, maybe the guy was wrong.

sounds more likely that Corbon hasn't paid their $200 export license.

This.

Gotta be on the approved ammo list to import it. has nothing whatsoever to do with it being 'defensive' ammo or anything like that.

Among other things, the ammo must be submitted for testing, at the supplier's expense, as well as they have to label it in both languages, among other things, IIRC.

Lots of small outfits can't be bothered. When they can sell all they can make, at home, why bother jumping through hoops?

Buy components. Reload.

Powder and brass for the 460 are easy to find these days. Bullets are my problem.

I bought a bunch of 300gr lead, but I'm starting to think they are crap for 460 velocities based on reviews I found after the will end up being 45 colt ammo I think.

Anything 360 or 395 seems elusive up here. Really scarce.

Yeah unless its gas checked and very well lubed I would stay away with light weight cast projectiles in the 460. I just ordered a 395 grain mold for the 460 that will be awesome especially powder coated. Hornady XTP projectiles are not even recommended because they are only rated for up to 1600FPS . You are best to stick with XTP MAGS or the FTX projectiles.Sierra makes a few projectiles rated for the 454 and 460 that are available in Canada . I am casting up some 300 Grain gas checked and powder coated projectiles for the 454 that I expect to preform flawlessly .
