corn cob in the flash hole

Hi, I am new to reloading and I chose to use green corn cob in my tumbler, after tumbling brass for 3 hours I drained it and noticed that there were peices of corn cob in the flash hole that I have problems getting out. I am using a dillon RL550B, can I just let the decapping pin push it out when I deprime the cartridge or should I worry about getting it out first?

As long as it's just a crumb in the hole. it's no problem pushing it out with the primer when you decap the shells. Just make sure the bottom 1/4 of the case isn't full of corn cob or else you might bend/break a pin.

cool, thanks. It is just one lone crumb in the flash hole no amount of tapping or shaking seems to get them loose.

I use an old dental pick. Your dentist should give you one. This is common occurence because I deprime with a depriming die before I tumble my cases. Then I resize.

Just use a screw or small nail

Princess Auto has multi packs of dental picks - great for flash hole cleaning for all sorts of media. Small cases such as .204 also tend to not empty when using plastic media - these work great to fish it out.
