Silver Willow hosted our 2nd annual corporate shoot today. The weather did not cooperate, but the turnout was good anyway. Rain varied from light to deluge and was generally horizontal. Wind played almost comical games with the birds. Everyone was cold and wet - and it showed on the last few stations. Experience levels between "never before" and seasoned club members.

My boss took High Over All. Last year's shoot was his first at sporting clays. I asked him if he'd been practicing. Apparently he shot a few geese last fall.

Amazing how much the weather can be an equalizer. Great fun!

Shot a PITA Multiplex Thursday night in the pouring rain. Did not do too bad at singles and handicap but as things progressed to doubles and I got wetter I got a lot worse. Embarrassingly worse you could say. Shouldn't let the rain get to me but I did.

The best way to shoot better in the rain is to occasionally practice in the rain. At the competition it's raining on everyone else just as hard but if you've accustomed yourself to the differences then you have an edge whether real or mental.

I always shoot my best scores in the rain. Years ago I shoot my first sporting clays shoot in the rain. Did OK fell in love with the sport on that day . Now when ever it rains I go in with a positive attitude. In my head I firmly believe that rain suits my shooting style, sometimes I even hope that it rains . I firmly believe it is all in your head.

.... I firmly believe it is all in your head.

I'm sure that's a big part of it, but it was elsewhere too. +6 degrees in the rain for an hour and a half was beginning hypothermia. Cold hands fumbling loading - never mind shooting. Wind had the birds ducking and dancing unpredictably and the force of the rain had some low birds skimming the grass and landing early. Horizontal rain meant glasses were always covered in rain drops and the rain blasting your face and dripping off your nose doesn't help concentration one bit. Between shooting, there were soggy boxes of shells falling apart, slippery boardwalk and boot skiing on soggy mulch covered sloped pathways.

"Hold my beer" (figuratively)

I got this! ;)

It is not bad weather is you are wearing clothing for the weather.

Had the same storm been in Montreal Alberta would have had to up the transfer payments even more.

Our shoot was basically canceled on the same day.

3 inches of rain 60 km winds no use in standing there looking like you are ready to go work on a hydro vac truck.

Likely they still shot as it cost who ever was paying the hefty hefty bill a big favor.

'Twas the schooner Hesperus
That sailed the wint'ry sea
And the skipper had taken his little daughter
To bear him company

Blue were her eyes as the fairy flax
Her cheeks like dawn of day
And her bosom white as the hawthorn bud
That ope in the month of May

The skipper he stood beside the helm
His pipe was in his mouth
And he watched how the veering flaw did blow
The smoke now West now South

Then up and spake an old sailor
Had sailed the Spanish Main
I Pri-thee put into yonder port
For I fear a hurricane

Last night the moon had a golden ring
And tonight no moon we see
The skipper he blew a whiff from his pipe
And a scornful laugh laughed he......

I shot a Lobster shoot at Addieville RI on the Saturday that had 8 inch rainfall. At least no winds but a lot of flooding. There were virtually no no-birds (Promatic) but the Timberland double Gore-Tex leaked. The le Chameau boots worked very well.

8 inches of rain no less! Saturday you say? Rhode island...

Good thing it would be impossible to check on the weather they had on the 10th hey?

Some mighty fine tales on the net lately coming off a full moon that week is really affecting the animals.

Look at his posts like product placement in movies. Make it a game. See how many comments about brand names he can work in to a post.

Really wish you hadn't said that.

There is another poster around here that can not say " I " and reference the same stuff he has over and over.
