Correct me if I'm wrong - Kel-Tec Sub 2000 timeline

I've been looking for a Sub 2000 for a co-workers retirement gift, and I stumbled across a good price on one in the Hunting section of the EE. I pm'd the poster and asked about it's condition, age etc., and S/he advised that they had bought it new at P&D around three years ago. I didn't think that the NR models have been in the country that long... Maybe I'm just getting old and losing my memory...
