correct steel to you forcustom shotgun bbls

so l looks like we have a bit more time on our hands , after my illness and our big move

looking at making a small shot gun bbl .
As many may know, there really is no such thing as a shotgun bbl blank, unless your looking for over under.sxs

so the question I ask is , do you smiths think a bar of HTSR 4140 at 28-32rc is good enough to use as a shot gun bbl.
or is the cup pressure to high.
has anyone here made there own shot gun bbl from scratch

How to Make a Shotgun Barrel by Harold Hoffman. The only mention of what kind of steel used is "barrel steel", which in my expereince is simply high quality, arsenal grade 4130, 4140, 4150 or 416R steel. HTSR at 30Rc is excessive and will wear your tools with no benefit. All the steels are in their normalized or annealed state.
