I have a 42 m (d) - not the full wood stock, but the slightly curved 1/2 stock,that has pretty fair wood and about 90% finish, no issues, 1 mag and I have found the parts for the peep sight to make it whole again and have all the barrel sights on it (have 1 screw for raising rear elevation, but the hole needs to be rebored to take this 'original' replacement screw. To the best of my knowledge it is then back to original condition.
It looks good, cleaned up well and shoots pretty darn accurate as many mossbergs do.
IF, and that is a big if, I decide to sell it, what sort of money can I expect (in general)

Rob; I own 2 of these fine 42M mossys, an (a) and a (b) Both are in very fine condition, and both are great shooters for their vintage and original cost. They are trading in the $150.00 to $225.00 range right now, depending on condition and the market. Old Mossbergs are one of the "sleepers" of the rimfire tribe, with certain models performing well above the level expected by the majority. I have had a couple of very interesting casual competitions with my 146 b's, and they generally will lay a licking on anything in their class, plus some! Regards, Eagleye.
 
Having a few Mossys, and passed a few onto new owners, I would guess, depending on condition, that between $150 and $250 could be realized. But having to have work done thus taking originality away, the lower end seems fair.

I totally agree with Eagleye, these guns are very good shooters and cannot fault my 151s for target shooting nor the 144lsb which I love to shoot long distances.

I had a pm that asked about it and apparently it is a 42m (d), version. I thought it was a (b) version without the full wood.:redface::redface:

If those in the know would still like to give me an estimate of its worth, I would appreciate it.
