Is there anything wrong with using a duty belt that corrections officers use? I was given one and bought a holster for it many years ago. I'm looking at getting into IPSC and I'm wondering if I should buy a new belt or stick with this one and get 2" mag pouches along with my holster that already fits the belt.

Rules doesn't say you can't wear a single duty belt. Rules just say belts for men must be worn at waist level and secured by at least 3 belt loops.

It'll just be a pain in the arse to don/doff the holster and pouches each time you go to a match.

Check your holsters/pouches. Some are only designed for 1 1/2" belts, others are adjustable to 2". If it works, try it out during your BB course and see if it doesn't work for you. Save yourself $80. if it does work.

Most competition pouches are designed for 1.5" belts.

I'm running a 2" duty belt for my current IPSC Glock gear but it's all Bladetech so is adjustable and fits on a 2" belt no problem. I just ordered the gear for my CZ since I'm switching over and went with 1.5" since it's more standard. If you already have a 2" belt there's no reason not to use it if your pouches and such fit it.

Depends a lot on what gun and holster you are using. No use monkey fu#$*ing a bunch of equipment just because you have a free 30.00 belt. What gun, holster and division ?
