This has most likely been asked but I could not find a link to the thread. What makes it corrosive and does it just ruin your barrel or action as well?

Ok so would you use it with a new rifle? Just bought a mini-30, and non-corrosive is hard to find right now. I am reluctant to use it and damage the rifle.

As others have said, the primer is the corrosive bit. These primers use potassium chlorate as a primary explosive, which upon detonation decomposes in part to potassium chloride. Potassium chloride is a deliquescent salt, meaning it will suck available moisture out of the air to dissolve itself, creating a little puddle of salt water inside your bore.
