I've searched on here for explanations but have found nothing, so what makes some ammo 'corrosive'? Primer, powder? How does it differ from other ammo?

As for people saying you gotta clean your firearm after 1 shot of this 'corrosive' ammo, I was always taught to clean your rifle after shooting any type or amount.

Corrosive ammo(Primers) leaves a salt like residue deposited in the rifle. If you dont clean the salts away, they attract water, and cause rust. If you just use a normal patch+copper solvent clean, you can leave salts down the barrel and rust your barrel. This isnt an instant thing, but I bet you would see decient rusting within a few weeks after a good shoot of corrosive ammo. Hot soapy water, Windex and water based commercial bore cleaners such as ‘Shooter's Choice Copper Cleaner’ will do a good job of cleaning the residue away.

If you dont clean normal ammo after every shoot, there are much smaller side effects. Personally I clean all my rifles after every shoot, and clean the hell out of my SKS after I shoot some corrosive ammo down it.
