Here's a neat fact: 501 is the headstamp for Unknown factory, Peoples Republic of China, not Germany. 1983 would be corrosive from that part of the world, as it was produced for military use, not export for shooting sports. (ht tp://cartridgecollectors.org/?page=headstampcodes)

Chinese ammo, German boxes.

These would be your eastern block codes: ht tp://www.ak-47.net/ammo/chart1.html

I would say corrosive just because it was before the 90s

I won't go into details but I have had a chance to do the nail test on recent Bulgarian/Czech Factory 10 ammunition with a post 2000's headstamp and they still have corrosive primers.

The only sure bet you can count on is that if it is made anywhere but North America and doesn't specifically say so on the packaging, it's corrosive.

Clean accordingly.

likely rebulleted DDR surplus, which is common in Germany. 90% corrosive unless the they reprimered as well (never seen it happen)

PS Headstamp indicates it is Chinese made, thus rebulleted/reprocessed in germany. Green primer sealer is unusual.

Test per video, 90% corrosive

Looking at acquiring a 7.62x39, For corrosive ammo I'm told to use an ammonia solution? Will Wipe-out deal with the corrosive residue? What special do I need to do to deal with corrosive issue?
