Im sure this topic has been done to death, but hopefully someone can help me out. I have a box of Czech surplus 7.62X39mm, the individual cartridges are stamped '73' on the back. Does anyone know if the Czechs still pumped out corrosive primers as late as 1973? Im fairly sure they did, but hopefully not. Does the 73 even indicate the year of manufacture?

They still use corrosive primers for military ammo in Russia, and elsewhere. The Czechs produced the M43 to Russian specs, which called for corrosive primers as they last longer and are more reliable.

73 is the most common year for Czech M43. Headstamp will be bxn 73. Made at Sellier & Bellot in Vlasim.
