I have an old steel Weaver V4.5W that is mechanically sound but has unclear optics. I have heard of Trace scope repair and I am wondering what the cost is for them to refurbish the glass. I realize the glass may be pooched but I am willing to at least have someone look at it.

Telephone or e-mail them and ask. I left a voice-mail and got a call back same day. I learned it's only $10 to replace the cracked plastic saddle on a Weaver Challenger 4x, I won't know how much it's going to be to clean up a little rust under the AO ring of a Weaver K12-1 until he gets it and looks at it, and I know changing the serviceable reticle on a scope like yours (cause I have one) to a different type I would like better is "a lot of work, more $ than the scope is probably worth." Not a hard fellow to deal with, and lots of people say his work is done well.
