I know an older fella with a few prohib revolvers & he has no family interested to pass them on to. So he has offered some to me but since i dont have a prohib license & im not family changing them from .32 first is my only option to own one.
So I was wondering what it would cost (ball park) to change the caliber from .32 S&W?

I was thinking thinking 17 mach 2 so it would classify as antique, or possibly making a wild cat round by necking the 32 brass to 30 cal. again so it would classify as antique. A M1 Carbine die set should do the trick once its set up properly.
I know it wont be cheap but Im curious.

Thanks

this is not possible anymore .

the rcmp is no longer allowing this .

the example given is a pre 1898 restricted chambered in 45 colt can no longer be rechambered into a antique chambering and be reclassified as a antique ...... no matter what happens , it was originally intended to be a 45 colt .

there have been a few threads on this .

any guns reworked previous to this new line of thinking are supposedly grandfathered .

It would depend on the guns, Real nice colt , may be worth the cost to change the caliber to restricted, don't forget the 105 mm barrel length also.
Most 32 cal. guns I run into are not worth the cost to change them.
I have a real nice Mauser 1914 with 2 mags in the milt. holster for 300.oo and no one looks at it.
32. cal rev. are usally in the 150 to 200.oo and a hard sell.
If they are nice guns , post a list or send me a list of what he has, I can give you values and costs.

Well i must have missed the memo about not being able to re-chamber to make them antique any more. That sucks!

The one i was potentially offered would have a short barrel and is not a high value colt for sure. I dont remember the name but it was one i have never heard before.

Thanks for the info! Even if its not what i wanted to hear but its apprecieated just the same!
