Cougar sighting? (central Ontario)

My dad noticed something in our wooded backyard on the edge of our valley. We've had yote problems recently so my dad loaded the rifle and got a bead on it. I had the binoculars and we both realized that this wasn't a coyote or a domestic cat. It was a large looking and was a solid tan color with a thick tail. From what i've read this wasn't a full sized cougar (if that's what we saw) and that they are incredibly rare. Is this something I should report to the MNR?

MNR reluctantly accepted that cougars are no long mythical figments of people's imaginations. There is a website that tracks cougar sightings, and yours definately would get their attention.
